About The Illustrator – Dane Larocque
With his mother a pro barrel racer and his father a pro bulldogger, Dane Larocque was born and raised in the life of rodeo, spending most of his youth on the open road. During that time, he always had a sketchbook at his side, filling it with creatures and animals. This fascination with art continued to grow with age.
After a few years of working in construction, the oilfield and farming, Dane decided to follow his heart and find his place in the world of art. Dane loaded up his truck and drove west from the small town of Big Valley, Alberta to the big city of Vancouver, British Columbia.
He enrolled in the Art Institute of Vancouver and, after two years of studies, it was clear that this was where he belonged. Now three years out of school, he is happily working his dream job as a full time artist.
